The affair of the organisation is governed by a structured reporting system that allows for smooth day to day running. There is a eight man Board of Trustee (three women and five men) and 12 man Steering Committee which is constituted by the head of each thematic working group, zonal activity coordinators, a representative from NEPWHAN and CISNAN each and the organisation’s two Coordinators.
The Board of Trustee and the Steering Committee are responsible for the formulation of broad policies and give directions and focus for the organisation. These policies and organisation focus defined by the Steering Committee are often influenced by the perceived needs of the community NHVMAS serves as well as the welfare of the people of Nigeria as a whole. The operations of the Steering Committee are guided by a documented constitution. The Steering Committee plans and oversees the implementation of the activities
The Organisation’s Coordinators work with the Steering Committee and reports to the Board of Trustee. The Coordinators facilitate the day to day implementation of the policies as well as ensures the organisation achieves its set goals and objectives. The functionality of the coordinators is further enhanced through the establishment of a Management Board. The Management Board consist of the two Coordinators (both females), the Programme Officer and an Administrative and Finance Manager. The activities and working ethics of the organisation is defined within the Personnel Policy document.
The Coordinator oversees the activities of the Programmes Department. The Co-Coordinator is in charge of Administrative and Financial structures and oversees the Administrative and Finance Department. Presently, NHVMAS depends solely on the Administrative and Finance Department of the Journalists against AIDS (JAAIDS), its host to help run its administrative and financial matters.
